Aileen Ward is a European Silver and Decorative Arts Specialist at Bonhams in Los Angeles. She has been in the valuation business for more than 15 years and is responsible for valuations and consignments of silver and objects. She has experience with international pieces from the 17th to the 20th centuries.
From 2006 to 2011, Ward was Vice President and Director of Decorative Arts sales at an auction house in Pasadena, Calif. There, she was responsible for preparing personal property valuations for fair-market value, insurance and probate purposes, as well as business development and curating monthly estate auctions for sales of European and American furniture, silver, porcelain, sculpture and fine furnishings. For 11 years prior to that, Ward worked in the European Decorative Arts Department for an international auction house in New York.
Ward has evaluated, researched and catalogued thousands of lots of furniture and decorative objects for hundreds of auction catalogues, notably including property from the Estate of Doris Duke, the Estate of Charles W. Engelhard, Jr., and the Collection of John W. Kluge, among others.
Ward attended Boston University, and later graduated cum laude from the American University of Paris with a BA in Art History. In 2008, she was awarded a certificate of Uniform Standard in Professional Valuation Practise by the Valuation Foundation.
