Giacomo Balsamo plays a major role in Bonhams Post-War & Contemporary Art department as International Director, acquiring business for the London, Hong-Kong and New York sales with a particular focus on European clients.

His career highlights include the white-glove sale, Voyages of Discovery, which took place in Hong Kong in May 2012 achieving HK$63,360,000; securing the top price for a painting by Lucio Fontana from 1952 in 2014; as well as the top price for any Gutai sculpture by Kazuo Shiraga with Untitled (Red Fan) in 2015, sold for £1.5 million.

Giacomo comes to the art world with an academic background in both finance and art, bringing a financial understanding to his art expertise. Italian by birth and raised and educated in Monaco, Giacomo's knowledge is complemented with his deep understanding of both cultures. He has a special interest and expertise in the Post-War Art of the 1950-1960-1970s, and in Italian and French Post-War & Contemporary Art.
