Suzannah Yip joined Bonhams in August 2007 to create and head the Japanese Department, and to make Bonhams the leading auction house for Japanese art in Europe. Under her leadership, the department in London achieved the most valuable sales ever for Japanese art in Europe 2011, totalling nearly £10M.

Suzannah started her career at Sotheby's, focusing on Japanese prints. At Bonhams during the past decade she has sourced, cataloged, developed and successfully dispersed other diverse areas of Japanese art, in particular: Netsuke, Inro, Lacquer and Metalwork from the Meiji period, including the Katchen Collection of Netsuke, part I-III (2016-2018); the Edward Wrangham collection of Japanese art part I-VI (2010-2015); the Misumi collection of Important Lacquer and Paintings part I-III (2014-2016); and not least, the Harriet Szechenyi collection of Japanese art (2011) which achieved a total of £4.6M - Europe's most valuable auction of Japanese art to date.

Yip holds a Masters' Degree in Art and Archeology (specializing in the arts of Japan) from SOAS, the University of London.
