Toby Wilson has been the Head of the Automobilia Department at Bonhams since 2003. He has over 30 years experience in the auction world, all of it gained at international auction houses based in London.
In 1993 Toby began conducting auctions and has presided over 19 'white glove' auctions to date, when every lot of Automobilia sells. Toby's auctioneering skills have been utilised to sell wine, toys dolls, Asian works of art, carpets, silver, cars, motorcycles and automobilia, as well as putting them to good use teaching novice auctioneers. His style of auctioneering lends itself well to charity events, and he has donated his time to help many worthy causes, his favourite event was conducting the auction for the Laureus World Sports Awards at Mohammed Ali's 60 birthday party.
Specialising in Automobilia, Toby built a market for the sale of Formula 1 memorabilia in the 1990s and is a recognised World authority in both fields. He was responsible for the sale of the Automobilia collections of the Stratford Upon Avon Motor Museum and the Exmoor Motor Museum, Porlock in the UK and the Seal Cove Motor Museum and the Frank Cooke collection in the USA, as well as many other archives and private collections.
