Dan Tolson is Director of Bonhams Modern Decorative Art and Design Department, based in New York.

Working to develop Bonhams department sales and profile in the US, in 2015, Dan devised the highly successful contemporary art and design concept auction, The Modern House. He has also promoted the market for Scandinavian and Italian design, resulting in successful single-owner sales such as Fire & Light: A Selection of Highlights from the Cenedese Archive, and the re-discovery of the only custom interior by seminal Italian architect and designer, Osvaldo Borsani, in New York, December 2018.

Prior to Bonhams, Dan was Head of Modern Design at Phillips, having founded the Department between 1997-2002, as well as Associate Director at Christie's 20th Century Decorative Art and Design Department 2003-12. Most recently, he was Vice President and Senior Specialist in 20th Century Design at Sotheby's New York.

Dan has a BA (Hons) in Design History from Manchester Metropolitan University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Decorative Arts from Glasgow University.
