Mark joined Bonhams Design Department in 1989 and was soon promoted to Head of Department and then Departmental Director.

He is responsible for the Design sales at Bonhams London which showcase glass, metalwares, furniture and sculpture, and are proving increasingly popular with younger buyers and collectors.

During 2003-2004, Mark worked closely with his colleague John Sandon to produce two record-breaking sales of the Minton Museum Collection. This collection reflected some 200 years of Minton production and broke many auction records, particularly for its range of pâte sur pâte wares. Mark later worked in conjunction with the Art Fund to secure the Minton Paper archives for the nation.

Mark is also a specialist in the growing field of Contemporary Ceramics and was able to source a vase by Lucie Rie in 2017 which realised £85,000.

Mark travels internationally and has lectured in South Africa, New York and Toronto. His proudest achievement came in 2003 when he was invited to organise a major exhibition of Art Deco sculpture in Cape Town. Mark later hosted a series of lectures about the collection at the 7th World Congress of Art Deco. He was also an advisor and resident specialist for the BBC television programme, Trading Treasures. In 2019, he organised a single-owner sale of more than 200 lots of Lalique glass at Bonhams Knightsbridge, where he is now based.
