Dana Hawkes is the Animation Art Consultant for the Entertainment Memorabilia Department at Bonhams. Based in the Northeast in Gloucester, Mass., Hawkes handles antiques dolls, toys, musical boxes, film posters, Rock and Roll and Hollywood memorabilia, animation art, cartoon and comic art.
Hawkes' experience includes more than 15 years as Director of Collectible Sales at an international auction house in New York. She produced all of the auctioneer's live sales of dolls, toys, animation art, music boxes, film posters, Hollywood/Rock and Roll memorabilia, rare comic books and comic art, among other collectibles. During Hawkes' tenure there, she played a tremendous role in perusing and acquiring single-owner estates and collections, including the Andy Warhol Estate, the Planet Hollywood Collection of Costumes and Props and the Collection of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
In a crowning achievement, Hawkes sold in excess of $10 million in animation art from contemporary films for the Disney Company. She is well-known within the art industry and is a regular on the collectibles and animation lecture circuit. Hawkes has spoken on a milieu of subjects for museums and organisations including presentations at The Museum of New York City, the Andy Warhol Museum and the American Society of Appraisers.
