Two Exceptional Bowmores at Bonhams Fine Whisky & Spirits Sale in London

Two bottles of exceptional Bowmore – a 38-year old-1964 distilled in Bourbon casks and a 37-year old-1964 distilled in Fino sherry casks – feature in Bonhams next Fine Whisky & Spirits sale in London on Thursday 29 September. Each bottle is estimated at £14,000-16,000.

Diego Lanza, Bonhams Whisky specialist said: "These bottles are part of Bowmore's legendary 1964 trilogy (the third was matured in Oloroso casks).1964 is widely considered to be the distillery's Wonder Year and these two single malts certainly bear that out. They were matured in the Number 1 vaults at Morrison's Bowmore Distillery's – the oldest in Scotland and the only vaults below sea level. Each release was restricted to 300 making them scarce and very desirable to collectors."
