Picassomania Ceramic is Top Lot at Bonhams London

LondonVase deux anses hautes by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was the top lot at Bonhams' Picassomania sale yesterday (Wednesday 18 May) at New Bond Street, London. The ceramic work, which dated from 1952, achieved £40,620 against a pre-sale estimate of £15,000 - 25,000.

The 55-lot sale made a total of £357,563 with 81% sold by lot and 92% sold by value.

Lucia Tro Santafe, Bonhams Department Director of Prints & Multiples and Head of Sale, commented: "From prints to ceramics, works on paper to photographs, Picassomania offered collectors and fans of the artist a chance to own works which covered the full scope of Picasso's expansive oeuvre. We are delighted with the results of the sale, which clearly demonstrate that Picasso's captivating creations went far beyond his distinctive paintings."

• Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Visage de faune. Sold for £16,575.

• The photograph Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, Golfe-Juan, 1948 by Robert Capa (1913-1954). Sold for £12,112.

• Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Profil d'homme Barbu, 1938. Sold for £10,200.

• The photograph Pablo Picasso et Cecil Beaton, 1965 by Cecil Beaton (1904-1980), signed by Picasso to Beaton. Sold for £5,355.
