New York – This April, Bonhams New York will present three sales: Photography on April 7, Hip Hop from April 11-21 running online, and Fine Watches, Wristwatches, and Clocks on April 14. The three sales will showcase the best in categories ranging from Supreme Louis Vuitton skateboards to unique 18k Patek Phillipe's to David Bowie photography.

April 7

Two rare and oversized portraits of David Bowie shot by Brian Duffy (1933 – 2010) for legendary album covers Aladdin Sane (1973) and Scary Monsters (1980) are highlights of the Photographs sale, estimated at $20,000 – 30,000 and $7,000 – 9,000, respectively. A group lot offered includes a collection of 19 prints by Robert Frank (1924-2019) commissioned by the Italian luxury brand Aspesi for its 1989 advertising campaign shot on the streets of New York's East Village and in Frank's home in Nova Scotia, presumed to be one of three-known sets, estimated at $50,000 – 70,000. Another group lot provides a sneak peek into the lives of the artists Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz and the writer William Faulkner, with 16 photographs capturing the group on summer vacation at Lake George in the 1920s by an anonymous photographer, estimated at $20,000 - $30,000.

Hip Hop Online
April 11 – 21

From April 11 – 21, Bonhams will be hosting its inaugural Hip-Hop Online sale which will feature photography, original posters and flyers, and memorabilia to celebrate the musicians and artists who have helped shape Hip Hop from its very beginnings in the 1970s to the present day. Leading the sale is a Louis Vuitton / Supreme Limited-Edition Skateboard and Trunk, a historical collaboration between the two iconic brands, with an estimate of $60,000 – 80,000. Also featured is Gold Boombox Lightbox by Lyle Owerko (b. 1968), known for his Boombox Project, and is estimated at $10,000 – 15,000. Additionally, the sale will showcase a number of photographs of Hip Hop stars from Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash to DMX and Kanye West. From documentary photographer Ricky Flores, who grew up in the Bronx and photographed the burgeoning Hip Hop scene in the 1980s, the sale features his images of B-Boys in the Bronx, estimated at $800 - 1,200. Also, from the early days of Hip Hop, a rare concert poster for Run DMC and Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince from 1988, estimated at $1,000 - 1,500.

Fine Watches, Wristwatches, and Clocks
April 14

A unique 18K gold open-face keyless lever watch from Patek Philippe with an enamel miniature painted by Marthe Bischoff (1900-1991) will be the top lot at the Bonhams Fine Watches, Wristwatches, and Clocks sale on April 14 in New York. Estimated at $120,000 - 220,000, the pocket watch is an exceptional example of designs by Marthe Bischoff, considered one of the best miniature enamellists of the 20th-century, for Patek Philippe and of which only a small number exist. The sale will also feature an important silver gilt hunter cased watch from the American Waltham Watch Company that was made in 1864 for the U.S. Military Telegraph Service to utilize during the Civil War and is estimated at $5,000 – 7,000.
