Bonhams Appoints Nate Borgelt as Head of Watches in the Americas

Bonhams has appointed Nate Borgelt as Head of the Watches Department for the Americas, based in New York. Nate joined Bonhams in 2021, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in the auction industry as a specialist in watches, clocks, and automata.

He has a particular knowledge of mid-century sports watches and early 20th century wristwatches and desk clocks, with exceptional knowledge of key watchmakers including Patek Philippe, Cartier, Audemars Piguet, and Rolex.

Nate began his career in the auction world in Christie's bids department, where his developing enthusiasm for watches led him to become a Watch Expert at specialist timepiece auction houses Antiquorum and Patrizzi & Co. He then served as a Senior Specialist and Head of Sale in New York for the Watch Department at Sotheby's, where he played a pivotal role in many notable sales, including Sotheby's New York's first Watch Thematic Sale in a decade.

Following a move to New Mexico to become COO of a regional auction house, Nate has now been drawn back to the pace of an international auction house to join the Bonhams Watch Department.

Commenting on his appointment, Nate said: "I am delighted to lead Bonhams American watches department, and am thoroughly looking forward to utilizing my expertise and experience in the market to drive the Watches department to continued growth and success."

Jonathan Darracott, Bonhams Global Head of Watches, said: "Having known Nate for many years, we are so pleased that he is joining us as Head of the Americas. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable to growing our presence in the US."
