Rare collection of 132 Supreme skateboard Decks sold for an impressive £125,000

The extremely rare – and complete – collection of 132 Supreme full-sized Skateboard decks, produced by the streetwear brand Supreme New York, between 2011-2019, sold for an impressive £125,063 today (Thursday 27 June) at Bonhams Modern and Contemporary Art Sale. The 80-lot sale achieved a total of £1,069,321.

The Supreme decks were sold as a single lot to a young Chinese collector. The decks feature works by renowned contemporary artists such as The Chapman Brothers, Urs Fischer, Cindy Sherman, Nan Goldin and Mike Kelley, as well as pictures of icons of popular culture – Bruce Lee, The Godfather and The Cat in the Hat.

Cassi Young, Head of the Modern and Contemporary Art Sale, said, "We are so pleased with today's result. The 132-deck collection featured the most sought-after editions produced by the brand between 2011 and 2019."

The section of nine female artists in the sale sold impressively beating their presale estimate. Tal's Bathroom, 2008, by Shara Hughes sold for £15,062 after an estimate of £4,000-6,000.

Other top lots in the sale included:

- Untitled (Fried Chick), by Oscar Murillo, 2012. Sold: £100,063.

- CATHÉ by Victor Vasarely, 1973-1975. Sold: £55,063.

- Figura Con Mantello Rosso (Le Bistrot) by Roberto Marcello Baldessari, 1921. Sold: £50,063.

- In a Spin, the Action of the World on things, Volume I by Damien Hirst, 2002. Sold: £50,063

- Nature Morte à la Guitare by Louis Marcoussis, painted circa 1921. Sold: £47,563
