A case of Romanée-Conti 1988, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti achieved an impressive £179,250 at Bonhams Fine & Rare Wines Sale in London today (15 February), a result that means a sip from just one of the bottles is valued at £400.

The other highlights of the sale showed that Burgundy continued to be in extremely high demand.

• A bottle of 1985 Richebourg Henri Jayer achieved £11,950.

• A case of 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild sold for £7,170.
