Oriented Sikhote-Alin Meteorite – Complete Individual
Iron-Nickel
Sikhote-Alin Mountains, Siberia

The powerful explosion that took place on Feb. 10, 1947, high above the Sikhote-Alin Mountains of Siberia, tore the meteorite into thousands of smaller pieces and knocked people off their feet several miles away from the blast. A brilliant fireball, described as being larger than the sun, was seen coursing through the atmosphere, leaving a steaming red trail in its wake. The present extremely aesthetic specimen displays orientation with trailing tails of iron-nickel, which emerged as it descended through the atmosphere. A superb collection specimen. Weighing approximately 321 grams and measuring 60 x 80 x 40mm
