Lucia Tro Santafe

Lucia Tro Santafe is International Senior Specialist for Impressionist & Modern Art, Post-War & Contemporary Art and Prints at Bonhams in Spain, overseeing the market for 20th and 21st century art.

Lucia's areas of expertise span from Modern and Surrealist masters (Picasso, Miró, Dalí), through the Spanish avant-garde movements of Grupo el Paso (Millares, Saura, Rivera, Juana Francés) and Abstract Expresionist (Esteban Vicente, Jorge Guerrero) to Contemporary sculptors Chillida, Juan Muñoz, Jaume Plensa, Cristina Iglesias. In the recent years, she has developed a growing interest and passion for Latin American art movement Op Art (Julio Le Parc, Cruz-Diez, J-R Soto) and for Arte Concreto (Palazuelo, Sempere, Gerard Rueda and Yturralde).

Lucia is also responsible for organizing Picassomania, a cross-category auction dedicated to Picasso's expansive oeuvre. She also organized the first dedicated auction to French avant-garde artist Jean Cocteau: Modern Orpheus in our saleroom in Paris, growing and consolidating Bonham's leadership in the market of Cocteau's ceramics. In addition, she'll be co-heading the important single owner collection sale Jean Cocteau et L'Atelier Madeline-Jolly: une amitié sans faille, which will take place on 29 September at Bonhams Paris.

From 2017 to 2022, Lucia was Director of Bonhams Prints & Multiples department in the UK, where she oversaw all aspects of the department's dedicated Print sales at Bonhams New Bond Street.

Prior to joining Bonhams, Lucia worked for nine years with Christie's London, as an Associate Director and Specialist in the Prints & Multiples department, concentrating on European collections and important sales from the collections of European publishers and printers.

Having graduated in History of Art from the University of Valencia (Spain) and Paris IV-Sorbonne (Erasmus Fellowship), Lucia completed her Master's Degree in Art Business with Merit at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London and the University of Manchester. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese.
