Hannah Noel-Smith

Hannah Noel-Smith is Head of UK and Europe for Bonhams Impressionist & Modern Art. Based in London, her area of expertise includes Surrealism, Fauvism and Expressionism, with a particular interest in modern sculpture and the work of women Surrealists.

After joining Bonhams in 2011 as Junior Specialist, Hannah was promoted to Department Director in 2017 and her current role in 2022. She has been instrumental in the department's growth, international profile, consignments and auctions. Among Hannah's exceptional results is the white-glove sale of the Sir Warwick & Lady Fairfax Collection in 2019, as well as record prices for Giorgio Morandi's Natura Morta (£2,902,750) in 2021, Franz Marc's Pferd (£1,095,062) in 2019, and Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita's La fête d'anniversaire in 2018 (£7,096,250).

Hannah provides international clients with valuations, advice on collection management, in-depth market analysis and art historical expertise. She travels extensively throughout Europe - with a special focus on France, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland - for business development.

Before Bonhams, Hannah started her career in the auction world at Christie's in London. She holds a First Class Bachelor's degree from Durham University and a Master's degree in Modern and Contemporary Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. In 2021, Hannah was also a Mentor for OK Mentor, a network devoted to women in creative industries.
