Outstanding Private Collection of Burgundy Makes £638,000 at Bonhams Fine Wine & Spirits Sale

London – An outstanding single-owner collection of fine wines from Burgundy sold for more than £638,000 at Bonhams Fine Wine & Spirits sale in London on Thursday 28th April. The sale made a total of £860,000.

Wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti featured prominently but there were also parcels from other high profile, sought-after producers, including Domaine Armand Rousseau and Comte Georges de Vogüe. The wines had all been professionally stored since purchase on release from the principal importer.

Among the highlights were:

• Three bottles of Romanée-Conti 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sold for £48,800 (estimate: £40,000-48,000).
• Six bottles of La Tâche 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sold for £30,500 (estimate: £22,000-28,000).
• Six bottles of Chambertin 2005, Domaine Armand Rousseau sold for 26,840 (estimate: £18,000-22,000).
• Three bottles of Montrachet 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sold for £23,180 (estimate: £14,000-16,000).
• A dozen Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, Clos St Jacques 2015, Domaine Armand Rousseau sold for £20,740 (estimate: £12,000-14,000)

Bonhams Senior International Director of Wine, Richard Harvey M.W. said: "This was a superb collection of the most desirable Domaines and vintages from Burgundy. The wines had great market appeal and I was not surprised they proved so attractive to collectors."
