Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Dominates Bonhams First Wine Sale in Paris

Paris – Wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti were in strong demand at Bonhams inaugural Fine Wines and Spirits sale (Vins Fins & Spiritueux) in Paris on 2 December, accounting for seven of the top 10 lots sold. The top-selling lot was a case of Romanée-Conti 1988 which sold for €341,600 (estimate €280,000-350,000). In total the sale made €850,000, with 90% sold by value.

Other Domaine de la Romanée-Conti highlights included:

• A bottle of Romanée-Conti 2002 sold for €23,180 (estimate: €15,000-18,000)
• Six bottles of Richebourg 2000 sold for €20,740 (estimate: €14,000-16,000)
• Four bottles of La Tâche 2000 sold for €19,520 (estimate: €15,000-17,000)

Oliver Wiseman, Bonhams wine specialist in Paris, said: "We are delighted by the success of our first-ever Fine Wine and Spirits sale in Paris. The enthusiastic bidding and high prices achieved promise well for the future."

Richard Harvey, Bonhams Global Director of Wine, Master of Wine added: "This is a very encouraging result. With most lots selling above their estimates, there is clearly an appetite for this sale among French and other European collectors and we're looking forward to more success in 2022 and beyond."

Among the other sale highlights were:

• Six bottles of Pétrus 2000 sold for €29,280 (estimate: €20,000-25,000)
• Six bottles of Le Pin 2000 sold for €26,840 (estimate: €20,000-25,000)

Bonhams Wine & Spirits sales in Paris in 2022 commence with a single-owner collection on 24th March.
