Romanée-Conti 1988, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (12)

Paris – An exceptional case of 1988 Romanée-Conti leads Bonhams inaugural sale of Fine Wines and Spirits (Vins Fins & Spiritueux) in Paris on 2 December, with an estimate of €280,000-350,000, (£240,000-300,000).

Bonhams Global Director of Wine, Master of Wine Richard Harvey, commented: "This rare case from one of the world's finest vineyards is bound to excite collectors worldwide in our inaugural Paris sale. 1988 was a very fine vintage in Burgundy and the wine is now fully mature. This case has been carefully stored by the vendor for over 25 years and was only opened for the first time for inspection by Bonhams staff last month."

Oliver Wiseman, Bonhams Senior Wine Specialist in Paris, added: "We are delighted to host Bonhams first sale of fine wines and spirits in Paris with such a terrific range of fine bottles on offer."

Other highlights of the sale include:

• Bottles of 2000 and 2002 Romanée-Conti, 2002 and 2005 La Tâche, and a six bottle case of Richebourg 2000

• From Bordeaux, there are original cases of 1996 Château Latour, Lafite and Mouton Rothschild and Petrus and Le Pin from the 2000 vintage

• Rare wines from Italy include Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1955 and 1961 from Biondi Santi and, from Piemonte, mixed cases of Gaja's Langhe Sori San Lorenzo, Sori Tildin and Costa Russi from 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003

• The sale closes with a superb collection of Madeira originating from the family cellar of a producer with vintages spanning 1870 to 1927 and a private collection of vintage Armagnac in excellent condition
