Impressive Private Cellar Sweeps The Board At Bonhams Fine and Rare Wine Sale In London

London – An impressive selection of Bordeaux and Burgundy vintages from a private English cellar was sold for more than £225,000 at the Fine and Rare Wine sale in London on Thursday 30 September. In total the sale made £658,000 with 81% sold by lot and 89% sold by value.

Among the highlights were

• Six bottles of Bonnes-Mares, Domaine G. Roumier 2015. Sold for £8,540 (£6,000-7,000).

• A case of Château Lafite Rothschild 2016. Sold for £7,930 (£5,000-6,000).

• Château Mouton Rothschild 2015. Sold for £6,710 (£4,000-5,000).

Elsewhere in the sale, a case of Echézeaux, Domaine Bizot, estimated at £10,000-12,000) sold for £21,960 and six bottles of Château Lafleur 2000 (£5,500-6,500) sold for £8,540. A case of Krug 1982 (£4,500-5,500) sold for £7,076 and five bottles of Salon 1988 (£4,000-4,800) sold for £6710.

Bonhams Senior International Director of Wine and Master of Wine, Richard Harvey, commented: "The highlight of the sale was the exceptional English private collection which sparked fierce bidding and sold out almost in its entirety. The wines were in particularly good condition having been purchased through a long-established wine merchant and stored by them until removed for this sale."
