Impressive Private Cellar of Bordeaux and Burgundy Leads Bonhams Fine and Rare Wine Sale in London

London – An impressive selection of Bordeaux and Burgundy from a private English cellar features in Bonhams 567-lot Fine and Rare Wine sale in London on Thursday 30 September.

The collection was purchased through a long-established wine merchant and stored by them until removed for this sale. It offers a particularly fine selection of first growth claret including cases of:

• Château Lafite Rothschild 2012 (£4,500-5.500), 2015 (£4,800-5,500) and 2016 (£5,000-6,000)

• Château Mouton Rothschild 2015 (£4,000-5,000) and 2016 (£4,500-5,500)

• Château Haut-Brion 2015 (£4,000-5,000)

• Château Margaux 2016 (£3,800-4,500)

Among the Burgundies are vintages of Bonnes-Mares, Domaine G. Roumier in lots of six bottles including 2014 (£3,800-4,500), 2015 (£6,000-7,000) and 2016 (£5,500-6,500). A bottle of Montrachet 2015, Domaine des Comtes Lafon is estimated at £1,300-1,500.

Notable wines elsewhere in the sale include:

• Krug 1982, a dozen bottles (£4,500-5,500)

• Chateau Lafleur 2000, six bottles (£5,500-6,500)

• Barolo, Le Rocche del Faletto Riserva 2012, Bruno Giacosa, six bottles (£1,200-1,400)

• Corton Rognet 2018, Domaine Taupenot-Merme, a dozen bottles (£900-1100)

Bonhams Senior International Director of Wine and Master of Wine, Richard Harvey, commented: "The sale has a particularly strong offering of wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. Among these, the first growth clarets from the English private collection stand out, as do the Burgundies from Domaine Taupenot-Merme and Domaine Humbert Frères."
