Bowmore Dynasty Decanter-31 Year Old Leads Bonhams Whisky Sale in Edinburgh

Edinburgh – A rare, independently bottled Bowmore Dynasty Decanter-31 year old is among the leading lots at Bonhams next Whisky sale in Edinburgh on Tuesday 21 September. It is estimated at £6,000-8,000.

The whisky was bottled by the Glasgow company Hart Brothers Ltd in a crystal decanter made by the prestigious Portuguese glassware manufacturer Atlantis Crystal. The hall marked, sterling silver casing incorporates gilt mounted medallions of the monarchs of The Royal House of Stuart. The decanter is number 121 of 500.

Other highlights of the 93-lot sale include:

• The Macallan-1938. Distilled and bottled by Macallan Glenlivet Ltd. Specially bottled for Werco, Ostend, and imported into Belgium by the same shipper this is bottle number 11 and comes in a wooden presentation case. Estimate: £10,000-12,000

• Glenfiddich-47 year old-1964. The whisky was distilled in spring 1964 and bottled in July 2011 under bond in Scotland for J. & J. Hunter Ltd., Balmoral Road, Belfast. It comes from a single cask – number 10800 – and is bottle number 1 of 24. Presented in its own case, it is accompanied by a sample. Estimate: £5,000-7,000. Another bottle of Glenfiddich-47 year old-1964 from the same cask, bottle number 14, is also offered in the sale with the same estimate.

• Brora-22 year old-1972. A limited edition from the Rare Malts Selection. Estimate: £4,500-5,500.

• Springbank-25 year old-1965. Bottled in 1990 by R W Duthie & Co. Ltd., Aberdeen for S Samaroli, it is numbered 120 of 480. Estimate: £3,800-4,800
