Bonhams announces its 34th annual sale of dog themed art, Dogs in Show
and Field: The Fine Art Sale, to be held on Wednesday February 17.
The sale, whose preview is set to coincide with the Westminster Kennel Club's Dog Show, one of the nation's longest running and premier sporting events, will feature more than 150 lots of paintings, watercolors, prints, sculpture and what can lovingly be called Dogiana.

This year, the sale is particularly strong in the area of Victorian British master dog paintings including multiple works by John Emms, Arthur Wardle and John Sargent Noble. Continental dog paintings are also represented by the Dutch artist Henrietta Ronner-Knip and several by Charles Olivier de Penne, perhaps France's most prominent painter of hunting hounds and gun dogs. Canvases by the American artist Edmund Osthaus will also be offered.
