Bonhams is currently seeking an experienced business getter for our Jewellery department in NYC.

In your role as a business getter you will be required to fulfil the budgets set for department sales and carry out valuation of client property within NYC and the US. You will need to maintain ongoing development of customers, supporting the database of both buyers and sellers. You will be assisting at exhibition events locally and worldwide as needed while constantly maintaining an awareness of our competitors' strategies. This role requires you to continuously promote the department by maintaining contact with established trade contacts and collectors to encourage further business within the company. You will be working closely with the specialists on strategies to encourage business and liaise on the production of advertising and marketing within budget sets. It is important in this role that you will provide constant support to the junior and senior specialists of the team and where possible encourage development and knowledge of the market within the department.

It is required that you are a GG and have a degree or equivalent qualification. You should also have a proven knowledge and a genuine interest for Jewellery. You must have valuation skills as well as a strong market and trend awareness. You must be flexible, receptive to change, able to work as part of a team and independently, and have the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure. Excellent time management and organisation skills are key, along with interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. You must have an excellent eye for detail and the ability to travel regularly. It is desired that you have a network of contacts, otherwise the willingness to build up such a portfolio.
