We are seeking a Cataloguer for our renowned Modern & Contemporary Art Department to be based in the Hong Kong One Pacific Place office.

We currently have the opportunity to join our world-class team of experts in our fast-growing international auction house. Our network of offices and salerooms extends across 25 international locations, giving us access to buyers and sellers on a truly global scale.

You will be required to:

• report to the Head of Department
• oversee the administration of the bi-annual Hong Kong Modern & Contemporary Art auctions as well as periodic non-auction exhibitions. This includes coordinating the auctions, overseeing shipping and all paperwork associated with the sale process (contracts, correspondence and export licences).
• conduct all relevant research into artworks coming in for sale to verify their provenance and assist the Specialists with valuations and client management when required.
• catalogue all income works for sale using the departmental library and external libraries as well as contacting museums and galleries.
• oversee all photography, commissions of restoration and reframing.
• coordinate all image rights uses for the marketing campaigns.

The successful candidate must possess some or all of the following:

• A sound knowledge in all aspects of the Modern and Contemporary art market in Asia.
• You will have the ability to establish good working relationships with dealers, institutions, curators and collectors' within the field.
• Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Art History or Decorative Arts. Masters desirable.
• Fluent in English and Cantonese, with Mandarin language skills being advantageous. Strong reading and writing skills in English and Chinese desirable.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good working knowledge of Windows XP and MS Office.
• Communication and interpersonal skills are essential to the role, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of the auction industry.
• Have permission and/or visa to work in Hong Kong.
