Bonhams 19th Century Paintings department sells a rich and diverse range of paintings by the leading British and European artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Our team of highly experienced and passionate specialists ensure that Bonhams continues to achieve outstanding, often world-record, prices. With specialists in both London and New York, representatives throughout Europe, and more salerooms and sales than any of our major competitors, we have the advantage of marketing to the widest possible international audience.
Our extensively researched and carefully curated catalogues feature works from the full spectrum of Victorian and European painting. From more traditional English landscapes and works from the Pre-Raphaelite movement, through to the glory of Edwardian portraiture and the modern masters of British Impressionism. The major movements in Continental Europe are also represented, such as the Orientalists, French and German paintings, the Dutch Romantic School, and works by the diverse Italian and Spanish masters of the 19th century.
The department holds four fine sales per annum; two in London in March and September and two in New York in May and November.
