Since its first auction in New Bond Street in November 2007, Bonhams' Japanese department has grown and retained its position as European market leader. The high point of this market dominance remains the sale of the Szechenyi Collection, the most successful auction of Japanese art ever held in Europe.

The London sales at Bonhams draw collectors, curators and dealers from all around the world, featuring objects assembled, cataloged and researched by internationally-renowned specialists who offer over 100 years of combined expertise in the field.

Every year, Bonhams has consistently held sales yielding impressive results and often world record prices, particularly in the very specialized categories of netsuke and inro, ceramics as well as Meiji Period metalwork, lacquer and cloisonné enamel.

Sales are held twice yearly in New Bond Street, London and Madison Avenue, New York and are scheduled to coincide respectively with 'Asian Art Week'.
