A Louis XIV stained tortoiseshell, gilt-brass mounted and cut brass inlaid bureau mazarin

Possibly attributable to Nicolas Sageot (1666-1731), circa 1700 and later
The rectangular top profusely inlaid with both contre partie and première-partie with a centrally inlaid contre partie figure flanked by a musician and a dancer beneath a baldaquin with birds perched on swags all enclosed by an engraved scrolling foliate border above a central frieze drawer and cupboard door and kneehole, flanked by six drawers all similarly inlaid with foliate strapwork flanked by première-partie squirrels, the sides with foliate strapwork panels and première-partie inlaid trumpeting angles, on eight scrolled and inlaid legs joined by two x-form stretchers, on toupie feet, restored by Henry J Hatfields according to the label on the reverse, 98cm wide x 58cm deep x 76cm high, (38 1/2in wide x 22 1/2in deep x 29 1/2in high)
