Footnotes

  • One of only 374 Phantom VI limousines built, 'PRX 4644' was supplied new on 5th August 1971 through Garage de l'Athénée to Baron Henry de Blonay of Villa Favourite in Chambésy, a commune in the canton of Geneva, Switzerland. Original factory paperwork on file, including the order form, purchase invoice and warranty acknowledgement, confirms that the Phantom was built to Swiss specification and finished in Country Green livery, with beige hide to the front compartment and beige cloth to the rear. Its specification included air-conditioning; Sundym glass all round; silk blinds to the rear compartment; driver's door mirror; front seat safety belts; repeater speedometer in the division; and a Blaupunkt Köln radio.

An insurance document on file dated 1st January 1993 shows that the car was at that time resident in France, the insured's address being given as Hotel Ritz, place Vendome, Paris. Circa 1994 the Phantom appears to have passed into the ownership of House of Fraser, the famous department store chain whose flagship outlet was Harrods on London's Oxford Street. There are numerous invoices of file dating from House of Fraser's period of ownership.
Chronologically, the next ownership record on file is a UK V5C document issued to The Real Car Company of Bangor, Wales in March 2003. It would appear that the Phantom subsequently relocated to the USA, as evidenced by Peter Glyn Morris's bill of sale to the current vendor dated 22nd September 2007. Overall, this is a nice solid example of a Phantom VI, that would require some work on underneath and aesthetically but remains an interesting Switzerland delivered car, reading just 51,755 KM on the odometer.
