Footnotes

  • "A real car but for children, without any danger as a result of its design, and immediately useable without any instruction." - Carniel Frères.
Built by Ets. Carniel in St. Etienne, France, this charming child's car was made for sports, games and leisure, and in an inspired stroke of marketing is named after the only day of the week when there is no school in France: Thursday!
The two-seater Jeudi featured a unique patented pedalling system that used just one pedal for both accelerating and braking. Boasting a glassfibre body 2.19 metres in length, it was powered by either a VAP or Lavalette 49cc two-stroke engine.

Loosely modelled on a Ferrari 250 GT, the glassfibre body is 2.19 metres long and 82cm wide, and is mounted on a robust steel chassis. The Jeudi was intended for children between the ages of six and 13 and had an educational and driver training role through its use in the 'National Championship of Young Drivers' during the 1950s.

The vendor advises us that the Jeudi was rebuilt circa 2013: the suspension, brakes, steering system, electrics, and body being totally restored. The original engine was exchanged for a Mofamotor with electric starter (the un-restored original motor comes with the car).
