A black and gilt enameled vase
Qianlong mark, Republic period
Of archaistic fanghu shape molded in raised relief zoomorphic mask ring handles, stiff plantain leaf bands, and dissolved taotie and chilong patterns, enameled in black and splashed in areas of gilt and turquoise to emulate the patina of bronze, all surrounding two large opposing roundels of sages and acolytes at leisure in pastoral scenes, the underside bearing the molded six-character mark.
