As documented by Duoyunxuan in 2003, as well as the New Songs on Ancient Tunes exhibition catalog produced by the Honolulu Art Academy in 2007, the scroll originally had a titleslip linking it to the collection of the important statesman Li Hongzhang. Unfortunately this titleslip was lost in the remounting process.
