Two Typed Letters Signed ("Wm Osler") to artist Seymour Thomas ("Dear Thomas"), whose portrait of Osler was completed in early 1909, 1. 1 p, 178 x 228 mm, on "13, Norham Gardens" letterhead, October 20, 1909, and the recent photographs,
2. 1 p, 109 x 178 mm, on "From the Regius Professor of Medicine, Oxford" letterhead, trimmed, November 17, 1909, fold through the center.

OSLER WRITES TO THE PAINTER SEYMOUR THOMAS, discussing a possible New York exhibition, recently taken photographs of the portrait, and friends he would like to see it, including Mark Twain, whom Osler had helped arrange an honorary degree from Oxford for in 1907. Seymour Thomas, an American portrait painter, had recently completed an oil portrait of Osler, generally considered the best of all Osler portraits, as well as Osler's favorite. In 1909, Osler had photographs of the painting taken, which he sent to friends, and from which he also had a lithograph produced.
