A DIAMOND TIARA
Designed as a spray of vertically aligned old brilliant-cut diamonds, diamond quatrefoils and rose-cut diamonds on knife-edge bars, connected each side by a diamond scroll motif, on a graduated band of highly articulated old brilliant and single-cut diamond circlets, each with a principal old brilliant-cut diamond at the centre, 20th century composite, diamonds approximately 110.00-120.00 carats total, one principal diamond is a later paste replacement, accompanied by a tiara case by Mallett, The Octagon Bath & 40 New Bond Street London

    This tiara was assembled during the first decades of the 20th century using elements from different 19th century jewels. The section of particular interest is the flexible diamond band of interlocking circlets running along the base of the frame. This jewel, now without clasp, would most probably have been a necklace/bandeau combination made around 1900. Its design bears comparison to Princess Mary Adelaide of Teck's diamond hoop necklace, circa 1860, that passed to HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, the Grand Duchess Vladimir's tiara of 1874 in the Royal Collection and the diamond and pearl circlet diadem made by Cartier for Mrs W.B. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
