Meticulous foam recreation of the original Yater "spoon" used in the Francis Ford Coppola film by the character Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore, played by Robert Duvall, who memorably uttered the line "Charlie, don't surf."

Captain Willard's (Martin Sheen's) journey to find the mad Colonel Walter Kurtz (Marlon Brando) is punctuated by a rendezvous with Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore (Robert Duvall), the leader of a helicopter-borne air assault unit and a "redneck surfer." One of the most memorable scenes in the film is of Kilgore ordering his men to surf in the middle of a battle, and the surfboard itself is one of the most memorable props from the film. Screenwriter John Milius, who came up with the concept of Apocalypse Now in film school, was a Malibu surfer who would go on to write and direct the surfing cult classic, Big Wednesday.
Renny Yater designed and built the "Yater Spoon" boards used in the movie. In 2007, responding to overwhelming pressure from the surf collecting community, he created reproductions of Lt. Col. Kilgore's board in a limited edition of 90, of which this is #7.
