Footnotes

  • This exceedingly rare Skipperera watch is consigned from original owner, an avid sailor who received this watch as a gift from his father who purchased it for him in Switzerland. The owner, who often used the watch in regattas, stated that "the colorful 15 minute start-to-race countdown dial really helped hitting the starting line at the horn to get off to a good start."

Regarded for its beautiful hues, the watch's design is inspired by 1967 America's Cup winner, "The Intrepid" which had several Heuer chronographs on board, and whose deck was a distinctive mint green after an MIT study deemed it the color least likely to produce distracting reflections. To commemorate the win, Jack Heuer commissioned the 7754 (based off of the 7753), which today remains one of the brand's rarest and most coveted watches.

The most notable characteristic of the watch is the coloring, which is directly taken from the The Intrepid: a deep metallic blue dial, mint green subsidiary seconds and the iconic tri-color green, mint green, and orange 15 minutes count-down register.

With only about 20 models known, and even fewer still containing all of the original parts, this watch is a grail for any true collector.
