*Good history
The Cord 810 (and its supercharged 812 sibling) remains one of the 1930s most important car designs, binning much of what had gone before and while not entirely starting with a clean sheet, like the same-period Chrysler Airflow re-visited the way a car should look and perform. While not as revolutionary as the Citroen DS would be at its launch two decades later, the Cord's bought-in Lycoming V8 drove the front wheels while designer Gordon Buehrig's design offered ultra-clean lines with retractable headlights and a lack of running boards. By the 1950s American enthusiasts saw the Cord as a classic, a status it still holds today. Imported in 1990 this supercharged Cord 812 was restored 10 years ago (bills on file) with work that included stripping the bodywork, repairing and fabricating panels where required and re-building the engine, whose work alone came to more than £17,000. Other work included re-building the engine and tasks such as grinding and polishing crankshaft big ends – bills detailing the work are on file.
An opportunity to buy a comprehensively-restored example of this seldom-seen, ground-breaking American model. Property from a deceased estate. Offered in delightful older restored condition, running and driving really well this is an opportunity not to be missed.
