*Good colour combination
*£30,000 engine re-build
*Fine bodywork

The Silver Cloud III was the final incarnation of Rolls-Royce's Silver Cloud model, updated with the then becoming-fashionable four headlight arrangement and the v8 engine introduced in the Silver Cloud II. Popular with the landed gentry, business figures and those from the world of showbusiness, the Cloud – in all its incarnations – never fell out of favour, even in its dark days of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The late 1980s classic car boom helped the preservation many Clouds and ensures a sensible supply of these cars. This 1964 example, in single-tone metallic red, cuts an imposing figure. Bodywork is very good order, the doors lining up well and the wheelarches and door bottoms devoid of corrosion bubbling. The vast expanse of brightwork is good, as is the glazing while the hub caps are correct. Interiors of classic Rolls-Royces are always impressive and MPH's offering maintains that line. Seats (in magnolia) are pleasingly mellowed and clean, as are the same-coloured door cards. The carpet – in a dark red – are clean and tidy and the headlining is very good. Under the bonnet the engine bay is very presentable and the engine benefits from a Rolls-Royce specialist re-build that cost £30,000. With good electrics too, this handsome Silver Cloud should reward its new owner with many, many years of enjoyable old-school luxury.
