Superb Seymchan Meteorite Pallasitic Sphere
Pallasite – PMG
Magadanskaya District, Siberia, Russia

Seymchan was originally found in the far-eastern region of Russia in the summer, 1967, by a geological survey party near the Hekandue River, in the Magadan District of Russia. The presence of olivine crystals in Seymchan evidences its origin near the core/mantle boundary of a differentiated body (thought to be an asteroid – a small, rocky body that orbits the sun) which was destroyed during the formation of our solar system, approximately 5.5 to 6 billion years ago. Plentiful olivine crystals can be seen within the polished nickel-iron matrix of this specimen. The present sphere is very large and impressive, notable not only for the size but also for the etched and polished surface which reveals the Widmanstätten pattern of crystallization. Weighing approximately 7.53 lbs (3.417 kilos or 3417 grams). Diameter 4 in (10cm)
