HOLLYWOODLAND.
WOODRUFF, SIDNEY H. Hollywoodland: The Supreme Achievement in Community Building. Los Angeles: Rapid Litho, [1923].
870 x 675 mm. Fold creases with some chips and toning, faint foxing.

Rarely seen early real estate plan of Hollywoodland.
S.H. Woodruff first traveled to California to take advantage of the reconstruction opportunities after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. He spent some time in Arizona before coming the Los Angeles where he eventually joined with Real Estate developer Tracy Shoults. The Hollywoodland project was among their highest profile. The Hollywoodland sign created to promote it has become, after reconstruction in the 1978, one of the most notable landmarks in the area.
Listed under the "Advantages of Hollywoodland" on the right hand side of the plan: "From homesites in Hollywoodland, the beauties of the Southland stretch in one gigantic panorama from the snow-clad San Bernardino mountains to Catalina and the Santa Barbara Islands in the Pacific, including great vistas of Griffith Park, the city of Los Angeles, Lake Hollywood and San Fernando Valley."
