    Private Collection, U.K.

The present lot relates to the permanent installation at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York, Garden of Stones (2003). The installation is a living memorial garden of dwarf oak trees growing from holes bored in the top of large stones, planted by the Artist, Holocaust survivors and their families. As the trees flourish, the sculpture is intended to be viewed and cared for by future generations, visible from almost every level of the Museum.

'Amidst the mass of stone the trees will appear as fragile, vulnerable flickers of life - an expression of hope for the future. The stones are not mere containers. The partnership between tree and stone will be stronger for having grown from the stone' - Andy Goldsworthy, 2003.
