Footnotes

  • Ferruccio Lamborghini started building tractors in 1948; he used war surplus materials at first but by 1952 was making tractors of his own design. The success of the tractor business enabled Lamborghini to diversify into motor manufacturing in 1963; the rest, as they say, is history.

The Lamborghini 2R tractor was one of the company's most successful, some 2,000 units being sold between 1961 and 1967. The 2R was powered by a three-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine producing 39 horsepower, which drove via a six-speed transmission with two reverse gears, and came equipped with a Bosch fuel system and electrics, the best available at the time. We have been informed that this particular example was restored to correct original condition in 2019 by marque specialist Nicola Formilan of Garage 961 in Italy, a company approved by the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum. Works carried out included sand blasting the vehicle back to bare metal; repainting in the factory's orange and blue colour scheme; checking the engine and transmission; overhauling the cylinder heads and injectors; re-calibrating the injection pump; changing all the oils; fitting new tyres, etc. Described by the vendor as in beautiful condition, this delightful Lamborghini tractor is offered with its original registration book; a photographic record of the restoration; and a Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum certificate signed by its director, Tonino Lamborghini.

    Lamborghini 2R tracteur 1964
