Footnotes

  • Provenance:
Property of Alan Lancaster. Best known as a founding member of the rock band Status Quo.

Acquired in the late 1970s, this guitar was used extensively by Alan both live and in the studio. The guitar suffered damage and the Koa body was remade in 1984 using the same wood. It was finished in cellulose, rather than the more usual polyester lacquer. Cellulose is the better lacquer but fades more quickly. Notable appearances of the guitar include The Prince's Trust concerts during Quo's 20th Anniversary Tour in May 1982, and at Wembley Stadium for 'Live Aid', 13th July 1985.

Saleroom notices

  • Please note, this bass was not used at the Prince's Trust in 1982 as catalogued. It was first used in 1984.
