When it comes to project cars, some are more deserving than others, and this Jaguar XJ4.2C is one of those deserving cases. Bidders should be under no illusion this thoroughly elegant car needs work, the bodywork now starting to age after several years' of inactivity – the paint too has suffered and the re-chroming would be the order of the day. However, the interior presents a more positive slant: seats (more unusually in cloth rather than leather form), dashboard and trim are said to be very good but the headlining, as nay XJ enthusiasts will know, requires attention. Mechanically at the very least a full check-over of the engine, gearbox and brakes is needed after a long period of inactivity, although the mechanical condition was OK when last used, our vendor says. Good history comes with this most elegant of post-war British coupes and as values continue to rise viewing is highly recommended.
