An Egyptian blue glazed composition ointment cup
New Kingdom, 18th-20th Dynasty, circa 1550-1070 B.C.
Conical in form with a flaring foot, with a hieroglyphic inscription in darker blue glaze naming 'Sefet', the original contents remaining, 4.7cm high

    Sefet was one of the seven sacred oils from the funerary ritual. It is said to be from the ash tree, once translated as cedar but now this attribution is disputed.

27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
