Converted from flintlock, with re-browned twist sighted three-stage barrel turned at the girdle, octagonal breech becoming polygonal and engraved with maker's address along the top flat, foliate scroll engraved breech with pierced engraved platinum plug, tang engraved with foliate scrollwork and a pheasant perched on a branch, signed border engraved flat lock decorated with foliate scrollwork and pheasants in a landscape, foliate scroll engraved hammer, figured half-stock with chequered grip and dark horn fore-end cap, border engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate (some wear and rust patination) engraved with a prone gun dog on the heel tang, serial numbered trigger-guard with a sporting trophy on the bow, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, the former engraved with owner's initials 'AG', and brass-tipped ramrod: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including leather-covered bag-shaped powder-flask and leather shot-belt, the interior of the lid (moth damaged) with maker's trade label handwritten with a previous owner's details, the exterior with circular vacant brass escutcheon centred on a flush-fitting brass carrying handle
