OSLER, GRACE. 1854-1928.
Autograph Letter Signed ("Grace R. Osler") to Frank L. Pleadwell mourning her late husband, 2 pp, 12mo, Oxford, December 12, [c.1925,] on her mourning stationery, small strip to tape to outside fold (stamped "F.L. Pleadwell"), original transmittal envelope.
A LETTER REVEALING HER DEEP SENSE OF LOSS SOME YEARS AFTER HER HUSBAND'S PASSING. "...Well, I remember the day you arrived during the War - What days those were! - I little thought then that my life would be so wrecked!" Pleadwell, an accomplished Naval surgeon and medical historian, was posted to the American embassy in London in 1916, and served as Commanding Officer of Naval Hospitals Pearl Harbor in 1925-1926.
