Footnotes

  • The Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 174 is the epitome of the creation of a watchmaking house that is able to develop and create its own movements and inventions. The Spherical Tourbillon has 373 pieces and is controlled by JLC's 1000 hour program to test for perfect running. The Tourbillon is made up from two rotating cages, the outer cage rotating once every 60 seconds and the inner once every 18.75 seconds. The balance spring is a cylindrical spiral rather than the more normal flat spiral which allows for a superlative isochronism and is more usually associated with highly accurate Marine Chronometers.
