Footnotes

  • The six pillars are the foundation stones for the character and excellence of The Macallan

The Spiritual Home, the distillery is watched over by Easter Elchies House, the first of the six pillars
Within the distillery the then Curiously Small Copper Stills help to concentrate the flavour of the new make spirit
The Macallan takes one of the Finest Cuts of any Scottish Distillery, the best of the best
It is an unfaltering obsession with Exceptional Oak Casks which delivers the wonderful diversity evident throughout The Macallan range. Each cask affects the 'new make' spirit in slightly different ways to create variations in colour, aroma and flavour
Significantly The Macallan insists on Natural Colour
It is the interaction of spirit and wood alone which delivers the Peerless Spirit

    Tasting Profile:
Colour: Burnished gold with midnight sun reflections.
Nose: Heady top notes of cumin, cardamom and darkest maraschino.
Palate: All encompassing and aromatic with dark prunes and plain chocolate.
Finish: Very long finish with a Spanish sherry oak signature and a hint of peat smoke.
    - Bob Dalgarno, The Macallan Master Whisky Maker.
