of typical waisted arched form, the swept caddy top surmounted by a putto finial, the 6.5" engraved brass dial with enamel Roman numerals mantel clock movement, the brass twin train movement with Brocot type suspension striking on a gong, with mask head pendulum and winder, 60cm high

    *Lady Zetland attended parties given at the Astors at Cliveden. The parties included many famous guests including Charlie Chaplin (who was very good friends with Lord Astor) and she confirmed that the clock stood on the mantelpiece of the reception room which was the scene of scandal during the Profumo affair involving Christine Keeler.
